Leadership

1. Who is a Leader?

    A leader is one who influences men and material to win the goal.

2. What are the Types of Leaders?

    a. Born Leaders Eg. Nehru, Alexander
    b. Trained Leader Eg. Nepoleon, Shivaji
    c. Assumed Leaders Eg. Hitler, Mussolini

3. What are the duties of a good citizen?

    a. Primary duty to be loyal and owe allegiance to the state
    b. A good citizen is a patriot. He lives and dies for the sake of his country.
    c. A good citizen is selfless. He keeps service before self. Service first is the                 motto of his life.
   d. A good citizen has sense of duty. He does his duties honestly. He obeys the rules and regulations of the country and pays tax to the Government.
    e. Care and protection of the government property
    f. A citizen should have a high character.
   g. A good citizen consider right of other citizen also as important as his own               rights.

4. What are the acquisitions of citizenship?

    a. By Birth : Person born in India are India Citizen.
    b. By descent : Children born of Indian citizens living in foreign countries             automatically acquire Indian citizenship
   c. By Naturalisation : A person who applies for citizenship by fulfilling certain condition like residence, appointment in service of the State, purchase of land or marriage with an Indian citizen may become an Indian Citizen if the Government of India gives a certificate to that effect.

5. What are the Qualities of a good Leader? (or) What are the essential leadership traits?

    Bearing, Alertness, Courage, Enthusiasm, Justice, Initiative, Decisiveness, Loyalty, Endurance, Integrity, Tact, Motivation, Sacrifice, Good command and control.

6. Definition of Man Management.

   Man Management may be defined as “The creation and maintenance of an efficient and contented Unit”.

7. What is the aim of man management in NCC?

    The aim of man management in the NCC is to make all personnel mentally and physically fit for imparting better training and administration to the cadets for fulfillment of NCC objectives.

8. How does NCC training help you be a Good Citizen?

   The great NCC taught me 1. Loyalty towards human beings 2. Justice in doing things 3. Doing things with Morality 4. Always feel sense of Duty 5. Patriotism 6. Action with confidence so that I have become a good citizen.
The NCC taught me the duties of a good citizen as a) He should know his rights and duties b) He should be loyal and owe allegiance to the state c) He should be a patriot. He loves his country. He should be ready to die for the sake of his country d) He should obey the rules and regulation of the country e) He should have sense of duty. He should do his duty honestly. f) He should pay tax to the government properly. g) He should be selfless. Service firs is the motto of his life. h) He should take care and protection of the government property. i) He should have a good character. j)He should expose black marketers, hoarders, smugglers, adulterators, thieves and dacoits, if he comes to know about it.
9. What are customs of the services in leadership?
    a) Saluting National Flag 
     b) While playing National Anthem NCC Cadets stand on Attention
    c) Good dress 
    d) Wearing decoration and medals 
    e) Battle honours

10. Define Duty.

     Duty may be defined as a moral or legal obligation binding force of what is right and good behaviours, towards superiors, colleagues and subordinates.

11. Define Motivation.

      The process by which one is inspired to act in the desired manner is called motivation.

12. Fill in the blanks with the most appropriate words.

a) A person can command respect of others only if he knows his duty and does it sincerely.

14. List out ten important ‘values’ that a good leader should possess.

      Honesty, Purity, Selflessness, Fairness, Trust, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Loyalty, Equality, Support

15. List out, in point form, at least five guidelines for ‘Effective Listening’.

     Show deep interest in the speaker, Concentrate properly, Do not distract the speaker, Do not be disturbed by noise, Be present in time, Listen to the feelings being conveyed by the speaker, Do not hesitate to ask questions, Try to understand the speaker’s point of view, Follow the trend of discussion, Avoid thinking too much about a part already spoken, Do not take too many notes, Avoid emotional barriers.

16. Define two elements of perception?

a. Perception is a process of selection or screening which prevents us from                  processing irrelevant or disruptive information

 b. There is organization of stimuli implying that the information that is                      processed has to be ordered and classified in some logical manner which                permits us to assign meaning to the stimuli situations.
